Our Story

RockStarts® is the newest iteration of a hip, interactive program that originated at the turn of the millennium in Los Angeles, CA.

When a visionary musician with a heart of gold discovered the transformative power of music and movement for children, he started writing songs meant to bring out the best in kids.  Aaron Nigel Smith created a spectacular library of award-winning music, full of joyful romps through the imagination, exploration of the world outside, or beautiful settings of creative metaphors that guide children as they grow.

In order to bring this much-needed arts enrichment to kids around the city, Aaron and his wife Diedre built a program to bring these songs and lessons to children in a hip, engaging, and interactive way.  FUNdamentals of Music and Movement was born, and spread quickly from California to the East Coast.

In 2014, Kimberly Harris (one of the first "FUNdamentors," and founder of RockStarts Atlantic) and her husband Trey (entrepreneur and former FUNdamentor) licensed the FUNdamentals materials in order to develop a fully-integrated curriculum and performance company, now known as RockStarts®, bringing new songs, lessons and organization to the program.  After 15 years in development, RockStarts® is getting rave reviews from children, parents, and teachers alike.
